Why location matters less than you think
A twenty-minute drive against a year of high school
Transportation is the most common reason families hesitate, and it is a real consideration — a daily commute from Plano or Prosper is not nothing. It is also, in almost every case we have seen, the smaller problem.
The larger problem is that between 65 and 80 percent of adolescents relapse within three months of leaving treatment, and the highest-risk hours are school hours on the campus where their use began. Families who solve the drive tend to describe it later as the least difficult part of the year.
Raise transportation on the first phone call so it gets solved in week one rather than becoming an attendance problem in month three.

One campus, one county
Texas has seven recovery high schools. Three are public. This is the oldest.
For most families in Collin County, the nearest alternative is not another recovery school — it is going back to the campus where the use started.
